Updated April 22, 2019: Los Angeles Pitcher Andrew Heaney, who was placed on the 10-day injured list March 28, 2019 retroactive to March 25, played catch up to 110 feet April 16, and is expected to resume throwing off the mound during the week of April 22, 2019.
During Spring 2018 Heaney had elbow inflammation that led to him starting the regular season on the disabled list, but he said this year doesn’t feel as serious.
Heaney, age 27, last pitched Friday March 8, 2019, but after the first two outs against the Chicago White Sox, he informed the team he was continuing to feel discomfort and was immediately taken out as a precaution.
A recent MRI did not show any structural damage.
Heaney underwent Tommy John Surgery on July 1 2016 after stem therapy at eight weeks failed to result in sufficient progress for his left ulnar collateral ligament. He missed the 2017 season.
Stem cell therapy involves injecting stem cells from bone marrow into the joint.
